Hello all. Most people in my family have smoked in one form or another over the years. Some a little, some a lot, some still do, others don't. Anyway, I have one brother who has essentially quit thanks to vaping (yah!). Another still smokes quite a bit of "analog" cigs, but recently confided in me he's thinking its time to kick the habit, along with other lifestyle changes.

So, if you were giving advice to a regular cigarette smoker wanting to quit with the aid of vaping, what would you say? Any particular steps or process or just make the jump to the other?

    Thanks all!

One of the biggest things I would advise is to take a few of those crucial times of the day where you always smoke (such as after eating, after physical exertion, when you wake up, etc) and make sure that you have your vape right there in arms reach.

I made sure to have mine on my desk waiting for my morning coffee, when we ate dinner, the vape was sitting right behind me so I could grab it right when i was done eating, etc.

I allowed myself to have a few real cigs during the other non critical times of the day for the first few weeks and eventually I just stopped reaching for the real cigs all together.

Aside from that, I'd tell them that it IS ok to give in and have a cig or two here and there when you are first starting out because eventually you will find yourself forgetting to even light them up with the vape available as an alternative.

I don't what to tell you exactly. But remember not to force it. You will feel bad for a month or two and you can be sure that you'll even dream that you're smoking.

I'd tell them that vaping is less expensive than regular cigarette smoking. Also, I'd tell them about my blood-spitting experiences I had with smoking. And to never give up, although is hard to quit, but it's really worth it. Better than ending up in a hospital room coughing blood.
